Jake Paul Believes Nate Diaz Is A Much Bigger Pay-Per-View Fight Than Tommy Fury
Jake Paul thinks his fight against Nate Diaz will be a much bigger pay-per-view bout than his match against Tommy Fury.
Paul finally fought a real pro boxer back in February as he suffered a split decision loss to Tommy Fury. It seemed like a big fight but now, Paul is set to take on former UFC star, Nate Diaz on August 5 which Paul knows is a much bigger pay-per-view fight than his match against Fury.
“Tommy had a big head after the win so he wants all this money and stuff like that, which is fine, but he needs to be realistic because he’s not the pay-per-view draw,” Paul said at the press conference. “If Tommy went and fought this weekend nobody would really be watching. Nate Diaz was there ready, willing and able and is a way, way, way bigger pay-per-view draw than Tommy Fury so from a business perspective it makes a lot more sense.
“I always said, even during the Tommy Fury build-up, that I wanted Nate Diaz after Tommy,” Paul continued. “That really was regardless of the outcome, I’ve always wanted to fight Nate Diaz. He was always next on my list. There’s always a bunch of options. I went back to the Nate Diaz idea as the original plan and he was ready and willing to make the fight happen and it just made more sense than doing the Tommy Fury rematch right away.”
There is no question Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz will get a lot of attention from the boxing and MMA world, so perhaps it will be a bigger success than the Fury fight. What also adds to the hype is the fact this is a do-or-die fight for Paul’s boxing career.
