Jake Paul remains heavy betting favorite to defeat ex-UFC star Nate Diaz in August fight
Ahead of their expected Dallas, Texas showdown in August, emerging puncher, Jake Paul still remains a distinct betting favorite to hand former UFC lightweight title challenger, Nate Diaz a defeat in their upcoming eight round middleweight boxing clash.
Paul, a native of Ohio, boasts a 6-1 professional boxing record – enjoying an undefeated professional run until just earlier this year.
As for Stockton veteran, Diaz, the one-time UFC lightweight title chaser and welterweight contender, has been sidelined from active combat sports competition since September of last year, and will make his professional boxing debut at the American Airlines Center this August in ‘The Lone Star State’.
Embarking on a six-fight undefeated streak until February of this year, Paul dropped a close, split decision loss against Manchester native and reality television star, Tommy Fury – the half-brother of undisputed WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.
Initially opening as a betting favorite to defeat Californian veteran, Diaz later this summer, a slew of sites and betting markets – including Kentucky sports betting still offer Paul as a sizeable betting favorite at -260 to defeat the +210 underdog, Diaz in August of this year.
Prior to his loss against Fury back in February of this year in the Middle East, Paul had landed a series of victories over former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley – including a thunderous one-punch knockout win in their subsequent rematch.
Also stopping former ONE Championship and Bellator MMA gold holder, Ben Askren, Paul’s most recent win came in the form of a unanimous judging success over former UFC middleweight champion and incoming promotional Hall of Fame inductee, Anderson Silva in Arizona last October over the course of eight rounds.
As for Diaz, The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner exited the UFC back in September of last year in an impromptu welterweight main event clash with former interim lightweight gold holder, Tony Ferguson.
Battling over the course of four rounds, Diaz submitted the Oxnard veteran with a fourth round guillotine choke win – returning to the winner’s enclosure for the first time since he bested common-foe, Anthony Pettis in late 2019.
A true fan-favorite in professional mixed martial arts, Diaz notoriously shared a two-fight series with former two-division UFC champion, Conor McGregor over the course of 2016.
Becoming the first mixed martial arts fighter to defeat the Dubliner under the UFC banner, Diaz turned in a shocking second round submission win over McGregor in their short-notice UFC 196 headliner in March of that year.
At UFC 202 in August of that annum, Diaz battled McGregor over the course of five rounds at the T-Mobile Arena, suffering a close, debated majority decision loss to the former duel-weight champion in the pair’s rematch.
Confirming his plans to return to the UFC off the back of his professional boxing debut against YouTuber and influencer, Paul, through his representative, Diaz noted his interest in finally scoring a trilogy rubber match against Crumlin counter striker, McGregor in his comeback to the Octagon to boot.
