Jake Paul Explains Why He Called Out Alex Pereira After Latest UFC Win
Jake Paul is interested in boxing UFC light heavyweight champion and former kickboxing champion, Alex Pereira.
Paul picked up a stoppage win over Mike Perry, in a dominating performance as the brash YouTuber-turned-boxer landed heavy shots and dropped Perry three times. It was a great performance and after the win, he called out Pereira, as Paul says he wants all the smoke.
“I want everybody,” Paul said at a post-fight news conference (via MMAJunkie). “I love this sport. He’s tweeted about wanting to go into boxing. We got him on the FaceTime right there in the ring. I said, ‘Yo, can you get out of your contract?’ If he can get out of his contract, then let’s run it. When I asked him that, he had a pause. He looked at his manager (Ed Soares). These guys aren’t their own bosses. I want all the smoke.”
Although Jake Paul called out Alex Pereira, the Brazilian is under UFC contract and Paul doubts the Brazilian will be let out of his deal by Dana White. But, if he does, Paul is confident he would beat Pereira and stun the combat sports world.
“At the end of the day, will Dana (White) let him out?” Paul said. “That’s too big of a risk if I can embarrass his No. 1-praised fighter right now. But I want all the smoke. I want all the MMA guys. I’ve beaten all of them. And who’s next? He’s the king right now of the UFC. I want him. I want to decapitate him and dethrone him.”
With the win over Mike Perry, Jake Paul is 10-1 as a pro and is coming off a TKO win over Mike Perry to extend his win streak to four. He also has wins over Ryan Bourland, Andre August, and Nate Diaz on the win streak, while his lone loss came by split decision to Tommy Fury.
