Jaron Ennis Confirms He Can Make 147lbs As Long As He Wants
Jaron Ennis says he wasn’t drained out and confirms he can make 147lbs for as long as he wants.
Ennis scored a 10th-round KO over Roiman Villa on Saturday and before the fight, weighed in at just 145.5lbs which surprised many people. He wasn’t near the 147lbs limit and Ennis says it is no problem making the weight.
“I can make this weight as long as I want,” Ennis said after his 10th-round knockout of Roiman Villa on Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall’s Adrian Phillips Theater (h/t BoxingScene). “You know, I weighed 145.5 and I wasn’t sucked down, drained. I ate the night before. I woke up [Friday] morning, drunk some water and [ate] a little bit and, you know, I make ’47 easy. And I rehydrate back up good and I be healthy and strong. So, it’s no problem making ’47 for me.”
With the win, Jaron Ennis improved to 31-0 and one No Contest, and now hopes to face the winner of Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford next time out. Ennis believes he has all the tools to beat Spence Jr. or Crawford and knows he deserves a big fight.
“We got to wait for Errol Spence and ‘Bud’ to fight and you know, I want the winner of that fight,” Ennis said. “Spence-Crawford is a great fight, a 50-50 fight, may the best man win. And Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis wants the winner of Errol Spence and Terence Crawford. Let’s make it happen.”
In his career, Ennis holds notable wins over Custio Clayton, Thomas Dulorme, Sergey Lipinets, and Mike Arnaoutis among others.
