Jermall Charlo Wants Canelo Alvarez At 168 Pounds
Jermall Charlo boasts an impressive professional record of 31-0, currently carrying the WBC middleweight title.
After Canelo picked apart England’s Callum Smith last weekend, in a 12-round demolition, Charlo started an Instagram live video.
At first, it seemed Charlo did not want the move to 168 for the Canelo fight.
“I’m not going to 168, Canelo gotta come to 160 man,” Charlo said.
Shortly after, when speaking openly to his followers, Charlo seemed to have changed his mind.
“F**k it, I’ll go to 168, I gotta get the fight.”
There has been talks about this matchup previously, but no official offer has been made.
“Canelo never gave me no contract, never got a contract from Oscar De La Hoya, we ain’t scared of nobody,” Charlo said.
“Why would I do some sh*t like that? that would put my whole family up, why would I duck a fight with Canelo?”
In a recent interview, Canelo was asked about his thoughts on Charlo’s previous comments.
Charlo stated he believes he could put the Mexican to sleep, if they met inside the ring.
“We will see if that’s true, they all say the same thing. Charlo is a great fighter and it’s gonna be a big fight in the future, if God wants it to happen,” Canelo said.
Canelo pointed out that his previous opponents always say they are going to be a problem for him.
But he believes after they fight, they all seem to find an excuse.
“My opponents always say ‘I’m your biggest challenge,’ I beat them and then they say ‘but…’ That’s how it is.”
“In the end, I’m doing what I’m supposed to do, which is fighting the best,” Canelo said.
