Jermell Charlo Believes He’s A Hall Of Famer Already But Still Is Underrated
Jermell Charlo knows he doesn’t get the respect he deserves, but knows he is one of the best of all time.
Charlo is 35-1-1 and is the undisputed light middleweight champion as he’s coming off a KO win over Brian Castano. His lone loss was a decision to Tony Harrison, which he later avenged showing how good he is, but Charlo still believes he doesn’t get the respect he deserves.
“He’s one of the best in the boxing game right now, amongst other people,” Charlo said on The Last Stand podcast about what a win over Alvarez does for him (h/t BoxingScene). “But I feel like I’ve always been underrated. I never got the love. I have the achievements. I have all of that, but I didn’t get the love that I deserve, I think possibly because I’m a twin and [Jermall] didn’t accomplish some of the things that I accomplished. So, they always compared that and that kinda messed it up for me a little bit. But I don’t feel like I’m a underground artist, you know? I’m a mainstream artist.”
Jermell Charlo certainly doesn’t get the respect he deserves. But, ahead of his fight against Canelo Alvarez on Sept. 30, he says he’s daring to be great and believes he’s already a Hall of Famer.
“I’m amongst the Hall of Famers already,” Charlo said during a recent virtual workout… I’m just daring to be great, I’m going to be great.”
Whether or not people actually think Jermell Charlo is uncertain, but that just goes back to his first point of him not getting the respect he deserves. But, if he defeats Canelo Alvarez, it would be a statement-making performance that would send shockwaves through the sport of boxing.
Do you think Jermell Charlo is a Hall of Fame boxer as he says?
