Joe Joyce Confident He’d Beat The Winner Of Usyk-Joshua 2: ‘I’ll Show You How A Proper Heavyweight’
Joe Joyce is confident he has what it takes to beat the very best at heavyweight.
Joyce is 13-0 and coming off a TKO win over Carlos Takam and before that scored a KO win over Daniel Dubois. He’s set to face Christian Hammer on July 2 and should he win, he hopes he will face the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua 2 on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.
“If by some miracle Joshua beats Usyk, he will have to face me or vacate the belt. His chin has gone and I don’t think his heart is fully in the game anymore he’s a businessman more interested in lecturing students,” Joyce told Sky Sports (via BoxingScene). “I’m No, 1 with the WBO and when Usyk beats Joshua again I’ll show you how a proper heavyweight in 10oz gloves deals with a man who lost to a welterweight in the amateurs.”
If Joshua defeats Usyk, a fight between Joshua and Joyce would be massive in the UK. It would likely sell out one of the soccer stadiums and would be a nice consolation prize if Tyson Fury-Joshua never happens given Fury has said he is retired.
However, recently, Bob Arum stated he would like to see Tyson Fury return in the fall against Joyce which he is more than open to, as he just wants a big fight next time out.
“I agree with [Fury] on one thing: None of the others stand a chance against him. I am the only one that can beat him if he ever took the challenge,” Joyce said.
Whether or not Joyce will get the big fight next is uncertain, but before that happens, he will need to beat Hammer on July 2, who is a tough out for anyone.
How do you think Joe Joyce would fare against the top heavyweights?
