John Ryder Open To Going to Khazakstan To Face Gennady Golovkin
John Ryder is hoping to secure a fight with Gennady Golovkin next time out and is fine going to Khazakstan to make it happen.
Ryder is coming off a decision loss to Canelo Alvarez back in May of this year. Since then, there has been little talk of what is next for him, but now, Ryder eyes a massive fight against Golovkin.
Not only does John Ryder want to face Gennady Golovkin, but he says he wants the fight to be in Kazakhstan as well.
“I’d love to fight Golovkin,” Ryder told Mirror Fighting. “I know he’s saying about another fight back in Kazakhstan and I’ve love to be in the opposite corner. I don’t mind going into enemy territory, why not? A little world tour to finish off my professional career. We’ll go to Kazakhstan for Golovkin and maybe to America for [Caleb] Plant or Mexico for [Jaime] Munguia. I’m not going to hold out on that though, I will get back to training in early September and then anything from October onwards will be good.
“I want the biggest and best fights possible now, I’ve not got too long left in this sport. The dream is to still become world champion but I don’t have the time now to sit around and wait for opportunities,” Ryder continued. “I’ve learned so much from that Canelo fight, just how up a level they do things. Nothing is rushed, everything is planned and done with conviction. You think that you’re having success but he’s six or seven moves ahead, it lures you into a false sense of security. I know that I’m going to be such a better fight coming back from that loss.”
On paper, a fight between John Ryder and Gennady Golovkin does make sense, but whether or not it will come to fruition is uncertain.
