Joseph Parker Plans To Beat Joe Joyce, Then Defeat Him Again In December
Joseph Parker is confident he will become the first person to beat Joe Joyce when they meet on Saturday.
Parker and Joyce are set to headline a card in Manchester, England for the interim WBO heavyweight title. However, in the lead-up to the fight, it was revealed that Joyce has a rematch clause and Parker says he only has that because he knows he will lose.
“I’m gonna be the first to beat him, give him his first loss,” vowed Parker (via BoxingScene). “It’s okay, he can come back from that and I’ll beat him again in December.”
Joseph Parker is currently 30-2 and coming off back-to-back decision win over Derek Chisora. The Kiwi is riding a six-fight winning streak and this will be his third fight in a row in Manchester while during the win streak he also has notable wins over Junior Fa and Alexander Flores.
Parker is also the former WBO heavyweight champion and has only lost to Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte and he believes that experience will pay dividends against Joe Joyce. He doesn’t think Joyce has fought the best and he will crumble under the pressure here.
“Joe Joyce has a great amateur background. He’s undefeated as a [pro] fighter,” noted Parker. “He’s only been taken the distance once. He’s got that confidence heading into this fight. He’s got the engine, takes a good shot and throws a lot of punches. But I’m gonna beat him.”
As for Joyce, he is 14-0 and coming off a TKO win over Christian Hammer but the biggest win of his career is a KO win over Daniel Dubois. However, this fight against Parker will be the biggest fight of his career which is why the Kiwi has so much confidence heading into the bout.
