Josh Taylor Insists He’s Ready For Jack Catterall Rematch: ‘There’s Nothing Stopping This Fight Happening Now’
Josh Taylor says he is ready to rematch Jack Catterall.
Taylor and Catterall back in February where Taylor won a controversial split decision to retain his WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring light welterweight titles. Many thought Catterall clearly pulled off the massive upset but the judges saw otherwise.
Since the fight, Catterall has been vocal in wanting the rematch while Taylor wasn’t so sure about running it back. He was then linked to a fight Jose Zepeda, but now, he says he is ready to rematch Catterall and silence the doubters.
“I was going to have to fight Jose Zepeda in August or September and that just isn’t possible with the wedding only being a few weeks ago. There’s no way I’m prepared to go into a fight not being in the best shape,” Taylor explained to the Edinburgh News. “But the reason I’m also doing this is to get the Catterall fight. It’s a chance to shut people up and show that I am still the best in the division. There’s nothing stopping this fight happening now. I’ve done everything I can to make it happen so it’s now over to Jack. But I won’t wait around for him.”
Not only does Josh Taylor want to run it back with Jack Catterall but he also vows to KO him this time around.
“I won the last fight and if he wants another go then he’ll have to come back up to Scotland to do it. I suppose it doesn’t really matter where it is but, at the end of the day, I am the champion – the A side. They keep harping on about this corruption thing but let’s not forget there were English judges too. I’m going to punish him this time. I’m going to knock him out and put him flat on his back. I’m going in there to outbox him, beat him up 100 per cent and knock him out.”
Do you think Josh Taylor or Jack Catterall will win the rematch?
