Josh Taylor Says He’s 100% Ahead Of Jack Catterall
Josh Taylor says he is finally 100% healthy again, ahead of his rematch against Jack Catterall.
Taylor won a very controversial decision over Catterall in February 2022, and since then he dropped a decision to Teofimo Lopez. Ahead of the rematch, Taylor says he’s healthy which will be the difference for him in this fight.
“I am 100 percent this time, 100 percent because I now have nothing hindering me in my preparations,” said Taylor. “This is going to come across that I am coming out with excuses again, but I had a bad f*****g injury. In the lead-up to that fight [Lopez], I couldn’t do any leg work or spar. I couldn’t do any running, I couldn’t do any proper weights or circuit training, basically anything heavy on the feet.”
According to Josh Taylor, he says he was a bit banged up going into the Teofimo Lopez fight but does feel confident he has all the tools to get his hand raised again against Catterall.
“I only got back to sparring six weeks before the fight [Lopez], but I was sparring well, to be fair. I was sparring well, I felt fit, and I felt strong,” Taylor continued. “So that is why I went into the fight. I felt like that, and I was preparing well in the gym, but come fight night, the legs were just not there. He beat me on the night. He was better than me and beat me, that’s it.”
Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall 2 is set to take place on April 27, 2024 in Leeds, England.
