Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. Wants Sons To Retire If They’re Not Going To ‘Prepare Properly’
This past weekend was a mixed bag for Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.
Although the legendary boxer put on a great show against Hector Camacho Jr. in their four-round special exhibition bout, the same cannot be said for his kids.
Chavez Jr. welcomed Anderson Silva back to a boxing ring, but was outclassed by the former UFC middleweight champion over eight rounds as he went on to lose a split decision which really should have been unanimous.
Chavez’s other son Omar would also lose on the night with a unanimous decision defeat to Ramon Alvarez for his third loss in a row.
And as far as senior is concerned? Both his sons should retire if they’re not willing to prepare properly for their fights.
“I’d rather they retire the hell out of it,” Chavez Sr. was quoted as saying by Michael Benson. “If they’re not going to prepare properly, what’s the use?”
Somewhat harsh words from a long disappointed father.
