Katie Taylor Confident She’ll Showcase Growth In Chantelle Cameron Rematch
Katie Taylor knows she has all the tools to beat Chantelle Cameron.
Back in May, Taylor suffered a shocking defeat as she was a massive betting favorite over Cameron. Many expected Taylor to cruise to a win even though she was moving up in weight to fight the undisputed champ.
However, Taylor ended up losing by a decision and the two will now run it back on Nov. 25 and the Irishman believes she learned a lot from the first fight and has confidence going into the rematch.
“I think so. I think failure causes you to analyze things a little bit more and that’s been the case for this fight,” Taylor told BoxingScene.com. I think that’s where all the growth happens. Unfortunately, it has to be that way. When you suffer a loss, you’re forced to look at every single detail. In that aspect it’s always a good thing.
“I definitely feel like I’m a better boxer now than obviously the fight before and hopefully I can show what I can do on the actual night,” Taylor continued.
Even though Katie Taylor has a lot of confidence, she is the betting underdog as she’s +160 while Chantelle Cameron is a -190 favorite.
Katie Taylor (22-1) is coming off the loss to Cameron. Prior to that, she beat Karen Carabajal in October after the split decision win over Amanda Serrano. In her career, she also holds notable wins over Firuza Sharipova, Delfine Persoon, Jennifer Han, and Cindy Serrano among others.
Chantelle Cameron (18-0) is the current WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring female light-welterweight champion. Before the win over Taylor, she has notable wins over Jessica McCaskill, Victoria Bustos, and Mary McGee among others.
