Kell Brook, Amir Khan Vow No Rematch Will Be Needed After Their Fight
Kell Brook and Amir Khan are just weeks away from having their highly-anticipated fight and now they promise no rematch will be needed.
The two will fight on February 19 in Manchester, England in a fight that is years making. Both men are vowing to end the fight by KO and even though there is a rematch clause in the fight, both say it won’t be needed.
“I leave it to my manager, my dad and to my team,” Brook said. “All I’m interested in is this fight. “I do know that there’s going to be a rematch if Amir Khan wants that. If Amir Khan wants another beatdown he can have one.”
Brook later added to Sky Sports News where he said: “I believe there is a rematch clause and I’m not sure that he’ll want to take that rematch clause or not with what I want to do to him in this fight.”
Amir Khan, meanwhile, heard what Brook said and he believes he will put a violent beating on Brook that will make him not want the rematch.
“I think the beating that Kell’s going to take, I don’t think he’ll want to have a rematch to be honest with you,” Khan said.
Amir Khan (34-5) returned to the win column back in July of 2019 as he TKO’d Billy Dib. Prior to that, he suffered a sixth-round TKO loss to Terence Crawford for the WBO welterweight title. The 34-year-old is the former WBA light-welterweight champion and WBC silver welterweight champ among other belts and holds notable wins over Zab Judah, Samuel Vargas, and Luis Collazo. He also competed against Canelo Alvarez and Danny Garcia in his career.
Kell Brook (39-3), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since he suffered a fourth-round TKO loss to Terence Crawford back in November of 2020 for the WBO welterweight title. Prior to that, the 35-year-old was on a three-fight winning streak which snapped his two-fight skid as he suffered knockout losses to Errol Spence Jr., and Gennady Golovkin. He’s the former IBF welterweight champion and holds a notable win over Shawn Porter.
