Kell Brook Eyes Eubank Jr.-Smith Winner Next Time Out
Kell Brook is hoping to face the winner of Chris Eubank Jr. and Liam Smith next time out.
Ben Shalom, the promoter of Boxxer, revealed Brook’s interest in facing the Eubank Jr. vs. Smith winner as Brook will be ringside for the fight on Saturday.
“Kell will be there on Saturday. He’s desperate for the winner of that fight. He wanted the Eubank fight after the Khan fight,” Shalom told Sky Sports. “He feels he wants the winner of this fight whether that’s Liam Smith or whether that’s Eubank Jr. There is a rematch clause, so if Liam does win Eubank will have the option with that one. But there’ll be massive fights for whoever the winner is. Huge nights and Kell Brook definitely wants to be one of them.”
The hope for Chris Eubank Jr. and Liam Smith, is the winner gets a major fight next time out. Whether or not that is Brook is uncertain, but the Brit is hopeful he can lockdown the winner later this year.
“Both of them want to fight again in the summer,” Shalom said. “This a springboard to massive fights in 2023. But this is the one they’re both focused on. Were Chris to lose this, it really will be difficult to come back from and Liam the same. The thing with Liam is he seems to have got better and better. Even the [Magomed] Kurbanov performance was good out in Russia and he’s been more active than Chris, he’s done a lot more rounds than Chris in the past couple of years. He feels good, he feels ready for this fight.”
Kell Brook (40-3) returned to the win column last time out with a TKO win over Amir Khan in February after losing to Terence Crawford in November of 2020. He also holds notable wins over Shawn Porter, Sergey Rabchenko, and Jo Jo Dan with his other two losses coming to Errol Spence Jr. and Gennady Golovkin.
