Kenny Porter Believes Jaron Ennis Could Beat Terence Crawford, Thinks Errol Spence Jr. Is A Tougher Fight

Kenny Porter believes Jaron Ennis could do well against Terence Crawford.

Porter, the father, and trainer of Shawn Porter has trained tons of boxers in his career but he believes Ennis is special.

“He’s a dynamic fighter,” Porter told K.O. Artist Sports (via BoxingScene). “I still think Boots needs a few more fights to get to that level, but he’s right there at that level. He’s pretty much, in my eyes, unbeatable… The kid is really, really great, and his lineage. He was born and raised on this. So, yeah, he’s got a great thing going on.” 

Ennis is currently 30-0 with one No Contest and has made it clear he wants a big fight next time out. Many fans want to see him face Terence Crawford and Porter says if it happens, he thinks Jaron Ennis could beat Crawford, but isn’t sure about his chances against Spence Jr.

“I can see him getting that victory [against Crawford]. [Spence is] a tougher fight for him,” Porter said. “That’s a bigger man on fight night, a much different style in terms of strength and in terms of size differential. Errol presents much more of a problem than Terence does. That one, I’m on the fence with that one. If they were fighting today, I’d say Errol beats [Ennis]. But they’re not fighting today.” 

Even thought Kenny Porter thinks Errol Spence Jr. would be a tough fight for Jaron Ennis, he admits he doesn’t see the fight happening anytime soon.

“No, [Spence] is not going to fight [Ennis]. I’m dropping the mic right there,” Porter told FightHype.com in a separate interview. “He’s not going to fight him. Errol is at a level where he can make some decisions that Jaron can’t make at this point. He hasn’t gotten there yet. So, no, they’re not going to fight. It’s not going to happen.”
