Lamar Odom To Box Former Heavyweight Champion Riddick Bowe On October 2
Lamar Odom’s next boxing match is set.
It was revealed Thursday that the former two-time NBA champion would take on Riddick Bowe at the upcoming Celebrity Boxing event on October 2.
It will be Odom’s second foray into boxing after TKOing pop star Aaron Carter last month in what was a bizarre matchup overall.
In former heavyweight champion Bowe, however, Odom will face a much tougher test despite being 12 years his junior at 41 years old.
Bowe hasn’t competed since a unanimous decision win over Gene Pukall back in December 2008. The 53-year-old did compete in a Muay Thai matchup in 2013 only to suffer a second-round TKO defeat.
However, if he comes in shape, he should be a favorite over the former NBA star.
“Riddick’s return to boxing,” Celebrity Boxing founder Damon Feldman told MMA Fighting. “He always wanted to step back in the ring in some capacity and now he is with Celebrity Boxing. It’s gonna be a fun, cool, match, two legends of their games taking it on.”
Former two-weight champion Paulie Malignaggi is also competing on the card as he faces TikTok celebrity Corey B.
It will be his first combat sports outing since losing his bare knuckle debut to former UFC featherweight Artem Lobov in the summer of 2019.
“It’s Official Celebrity Boxing, we’ve been doing it for 18 years,” Feldman said. “I’m real excited because we’re changing the game of boxing with the entertainment. Everybody thinks Jake and Logan Paul are celebrity boxing, they’re really professional fighters. My niche is you keep people safe and they battle it out for six minutes.”
