Lennox Lewis Believes Daniel Dubois Will Beat Anthony Joshua With Ease In Rematch
Lennox Lewis believes Daniel Dubois should be able to make easy work of Anthony Joshua in a rematch.
Dubois knocked out Joshua in a stunning fight as it was one-sided as Dubois ran through Joshua. After the fight, all signs pointed to a rematch and if that is the case, Lewis thinks Dubois will win again with ease.
“It’s going to be the same thing, Dubois is coming after you and when he’s done that to you the first time, it’s going to be easier for him to do it to you the second time, unless you make some drastic changes,” Lewis told Boxing News. “If he [Joshua] is going to do the rematch, he needs to make some drastic changes in his boxing.”
After the fight, many wondered if Joshua would keep on fighting or if he would rematch. But, in a statement after the loss, he confirmed he wold continue boxing.
“Probably you’re asking: ‘Do I still want to continue fighting?’ Of course I want to continue fighting,” Joshua said. “That’s what I said is we took a shot at success, and we came up short. What does that mean now? We going to run away? [Or] we going to live to fight another day?…
“We have to give credit to our opponent as well, Daniel. Well done to him and his team and also thank you to my team as well for the way they prepared for me. There were a few mistakes in there but that’s the name of the game,” Joshua said. “Fine margins can cost you at the top level.”
Daniel Dubois is 22-2 as a pro and riding a three-fight winning streak. Also on the win streak, he has wins over Filip Hrgovic and Jarrell Miller.
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, is 28-4 as a pro and is coming off the KO loss to Dubois. Before that, he scored a KO win over Francis Ngannou to extend his win streak to four.
