Logan Paul Insists His Fight Against Floyd Mayweather Will Happen
YouTube celebrity Logan Paul has looked to shut down rumours his fight with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather could be cancelled.
Several outlets are reporting that the February 20 exhibition bout between Paul and Mayweather has been postponed. Less than a month out from the fight key details for the pay-per-view event are yet to be announced. No venue or official undercard has been revealed as of yet.
In a recent interview with Night Shift Gaming, Paul admitted some issues were going on behind the scenes but insisted the fight will still go ahead.
“We’re figuring it out now,” Paul said. “There was some complications with – actually, I don’t know how much I can say. I will say this; the complications are when you’re dealing with someone like Floyd Mayweather.”
“Who is the most desired, highest paid fighter on the planet and he operates at a certain calibre, and the people around him want to make sure their talent, their fighter is performing at a certain level.
“There are a lot hoops to jump through, there a lot of people involved and you’ve only got one shot at it so you need to get it absolutely 1,000 percent right. We’re just making sure we’re doing that. But yeah, I’m still going to beat the sh-t out of Floyd Mayweather. Or, maybe he’s going to beat the sh-t out of me, who knows? Point is, it’s still going to happen.”
Paul has fought just once in professional boxing. He lost via split decision to fellow YouTuber KSI. The pair previously fought to a draw in their amateur boxing bout.
Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of all time and boasts a record of 50-0. Since retiring from the sport in 2017, ‘Money’ has stayed busy and even flew to Japan for an echibition bout against kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa. Mayweather comfortably defeated the youngster via first-round TKO in December 2018 and earned $9 million in the process.
