Lou DiBella Says It’s ‘F*****g Disquisting’ That A Video Of 48-Year-Old Danny Williams Still Boxing Emerges
Boxing promoter, Lou DiBella is not happy that Danny Williams is still boxing as a video emerged of the 48-year-old still boxing emerged.
William was fighting on a card in Cologne, Germany, where he was stopped in the third round by heavyweight, Djuar El Scheich, who has a record of 15-0, with 14 knockouts. After seeing the video, DiBella took to social media to share his thoughts on Williams still boxing.
“Danny Williams just keeps on suffering brain damage, caused by the callousness of boxing blood merchants, enabled by rogue commissions and irresponsible regulation,” DiBella said. “This is the dark side of our sport and it’s f****** disgusting.”
Danny Williams made his pro boxing debut in 1995 and had a fight in 2021 as well as this one just a bit ago. Of course, having a 48-year-old fight is not the best idea as Lou DiBella says he has taken a ton of brain damage which is not good for his overall health.
Williams is now on a three-fight losing skid and is obviously being used to set up up and coming prospects as at 48-years-old it is hard to see him get wins.
It is also surprising to see Danny Williams back as he retired after his loss to Serghei Kharitonov in 2020. The Russian was pleading with the ref to stop the fight and after the bout, boxer Dave Allen offered to donate a percentage of his future fight purses to Williams, if he stopped fighting, while former cruiserweight world champion Enzo Maccarinelli said it was horrible to see him being allowed to step in the ring.
“He looks so weak and not mentally there compared to what he used to be, it’s a sad watch. Credit to Kharitonov for asking the ref to step in when he was hurt,” Maccarinelli said.
Danny Williams is most notably known for his 2004 KO win over Mike Tyson. However, he went 3-16 from 2011 to 2014 and many had hoped he retired then but he kept on fighting.
