Luke Campbell Heartbroken After Loss To Ryan Garcia
Luke Campbell has taken his fourth professional career loss, after a seventh-round knockout over Ryan Garcia.
Garcia landed a flush body shot, sending Campbell to the canvas, failing to make the standing count.
Garcia was presented with the vacant WBC interim lightweight title.
Campbell started strong, even dropping Garcia in the second-round, something everyone has found impossible to do to him.
But it was not enough, as Garcia found an opening, proving how good he truly is.
Campbell shared a message to social media shortly after this loss, expressing his feelings, which shown how much this fight meant to him.
“Well I’m honestly heart broken, I really wanted to bring the win back for you all, I’m sorry for that,” Campbell said.
Immense respect was shown post-fight between the two, with a classy message left sent from Campbell.
“Have to take my hat off to Garcia, well done and a massive future ahead for him. I wish him all the best.”
After the fight, Garcia openly told the audience what he wants next, the highly anticipated fight against Gervonta Davis.
“I want to fight Tank [Davis],” Garcia said.
“People are worried about that, but I’m ready.”
Whether fight fans believe Garcia should be next, still remains up for debate, because there are a number of contenders wanting the next shot.
Vasiliy Lomachenko, Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez and Rolando Romero are all eager for the Tank fight, but Garcia will remain adamant he is next up.
When speaking on his performance against Campbell, Garcia said he chose to be champion tonight.
“I wasn’t gonna let anything stop me, not even getting dropped,” Garcia said.
