Manny Pacquiao Reveals Amir Khan Fight Almost Happened, Wants To Fight In UK At Least Once

Manny Pacquiao vs. Amir Khan almost happened.

A fight between the two welterweights was linked multiple times over the years only for it to never come to fruition.

However, Pacquiao revealed it was almost close to being finalized on one occasion.

“Almost that fight,” Pacquiao told Sky Sports. “Almost close to have that fight, but there was a problem about something. I will not disclose it.”

Of course, the pair used to spar with each other at Freddie Roach‘s Wild Card Gym. However, Pacquiao acknowledges there is a big difference between sparring and an actual fight.

“Fighting in the ring, inside the ring is different than training,” he said. “Different than sparring or anything. Big difference.”

While Pacquiao did face another Briton in Ricky Hatton, it was in Las Vegas as opposed to the UK.

And ahead of his WBA welterweight title fight with Yordenis Ugas later this month — which very well may be his last fight — the former eight-division champion hopes to compete in Britain at least once before he calls time on his career.

“I hope that one day I could have a fight there,” he added. “I’m hoping that one fight in the UK.”
