Mike Tyson Says He’s Still Owed Money From Jones Jr. Fight, Doubts He Competes Again
Mike Tyson says he is still owed money from his exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. on Triller.
Tyson and Jones Jr. headlined the first Triller Fight Club Legends pay-per-view in his return to the ring. It was a highly-anticipated bout and ultimately the fight ended in a draw but now, over a year later, Tyson says he hasn’t been paid fully for his bout.
“Most of it, but there’s still a bunch that’s held up and I can’t even say anything about this. Yeah, it was really tricky,” Tyson said on The Full Send Podcast (via BoxingScene).
Dana White quickly jumped in saying, “yeah, that’s what they should call it. Tricky instead of Triller.”
With Mike Tyson not having been paid, the former heavyweight champion also says he doubt he will fight again, despite being linked to a few fights a couple of months ago.
“I’m not even interested in doing this stuff,” said Tyson. “If it was back when it first started, yes, and we were both fighting on the same card and both active, yeah I would do it but it just turned bad. It didn’t turn out right.”
Part of the reason why Mike Tyson won’t fight again is due to the fact he is old and he only wanted to fight for fun. Now, people want to make money off of him.
“I know, I don’t think I will [fight] either but you never know again. Every 12 to 13 months, boom, something is missing. Like, something is missing,” Tyson added. “Boom, I’m missing muscle mass, boom, it’s always something different. Guys want to fight me for $100 million. I don’t think I’ll ever do stuff like that anymore. I wanted to do it the first time [against Jones], just for fun, to have fun. Some people took it to another level and made it financial and the fun went out of it.”
