Murat Gassiev Stops Michael Wallisch In Four Rounds
Murat Gassiev extended his winning streak to two and claimed the WBA Asia heavyweight title on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Russian fought German Michael Wallisch in an intriguing heavyweight clash at the Dynamo Volleyball Arena in Moscow, Russia. The fight was promoted by Russian top promoter Vladimir Hryunov in association with the Ural Boxing Promotions and Patriot Boxing Promotions and it was Gassiev who got the stoppage win in the fourth round.
Gassiev was fighting for the first time in 2021 after returning to the win column back in October where he TKO’d Nuri Seferi in the first round. It also marked his return to boxing after a two-year layoff after he lost a decision to Oleksandr Usyk.
After a slow start in the first three rounds, Gassiev came out aggressive in the fourth and started to land heavy shots. The Russian wobbled the German a couple of times and eventually dropped him. However, Wallisch got up but just seconds later after Gassiev landed more shots the ref stopped the fight which gave the Russian the KO win.
The win improved Murat Gassiev’s record to 28-1 and one No Contest. Who and when Gassiev will fight next is to be seen, but this was a good one to add some confidence and hype to him. He also claimed the minor title but there’s no question he will look to claim a major title soon.
