Oleksandr Usyk’s Promoter ‘Really Optimistic’ Tyson Fury Fight Gets Made

Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk is optimistic the fight between Usyk and Tyson Fury will get made soon.

After Fury picked up a win over Derek Chisora back in December, many expected his next fight to be the heavyweight unification title fight against Usyk. However, it still has yet to come to fruition but talks have continued and now Usyk’s promoter is optimistic it gets done with a 50-50 split.

“I can’t really say anything in particular because we’re in the middle of negotiations but I can say for sure if it’s a fair deal when it comes to the unification which is the undisputed unification, where one fighter has three belts and the other has one belt a 50-50 split sounds fair. It sounds more fair than it should be,” Krassyuk said to BoxingScene. “If Tyson accepts this fair condition, it means he’s a real warrior and he really wants to fight not just for money but for heritage, for legacy and for four belts in the biggest fight in heavyweight history at Wembley stadium. Why not? End of April, beginning of May, perfect timing. But it has to be fair. As long as I’m representing Usyk, I will fight for fair conditions.”

If Fury-Usyk does happen it would be one of the biggest fights of the year and would be a good test for both men. It likely will happen in the Middle East if it does, but all that will be determined once the sides agree to the framework of the deal.

Tyson Fury (33-0-1) is coming off a TKO win over Chisora and before that, TKO’d Dillian Whyte and announced his retirement after the fight, which didn’t last long. Fury is the current WBC heavyweight champion and holds notable wins over Deontay Wilder, twice, Wladimir Klitschko, Steve Cunningham, Christian Hammer, and Otto Wallin among others.

Oleksandr Usyk (20-0) is coming off back-to-back wins over Anthony Joshua to become the heavyweight champ and defend his titles. He’s also the former undisputed cruiserweight champion.
