Oleksandr Usyk’s Promoter Says If Tyson Fury Fight Doesn’t Happen ‘Would Be One Of The Biggest Mistakes’ Fury Makes
Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter believes if the fight against Tyson Fury doesn’t happen it will be a massive mistake on Fury’s end.
Usyk vs. Fury is one of the biggest fights to not only make at heavyweight but in all of boxing. It’s a fight that has been negotiated a few times but it has fallen apart every time. Although it hasn’t happened yet, Usyk’s promoter wants it to happen and hopes it does happen this year and says if it doesn’t happen, it will be on Fury’s end.
“I would love to see [it], as a boxing fan,” Alex Krassyuk told co-hosts Josh Denzel and Carl Frampton (h/t BoxingScene). “As Usyk’s promoter, I would love to make it happen. As just a normal Ukrainian, I would love my competitor to become the undisputed champion in a second weight division. So, from our side, it’s only plus, plus, plus. We know that Tyson Fury is a complex personality. And it’s probably not a surprise for anyone [that the fight hasn’t happened], and we can see it [through] his behavior in the last probably seven or 10 years.
“Yes, he is the [WBC] champion. Yes, he has the right to do things that he wants to do. But at the end of the day, he is a professional boxer,” Krassyuk said. “And his main assignment is to perform for the boxing fans. So, that is why I think if this fight does not take place, that would be one of the biggest mistakes that Tyson Fury could ever make in [his] professional boxing career.”
It has been clear that Oleksandr Usyk‘s side has been vocal in trying to make the Tyson Fury fight. Whether or not it will happen this year is uncertain but there has been talks of having it in the Middle East this December.
