Oleksandr Usyk’s Team Believes Daniel Dubois’ Appeal Has A ‘Zero Percent’
Oleksandr Usyk and his team don’t think Daniel Dubois’ appeal will have any success.
On Saturday night in Poland, Dubois was facing Usyk for the WBA, WBO, IBO, IBF, and The Ring heavyweight champion. In the fifth round, Dubois appeared to drop Usyk with a body shot, but the ref ruled it was a low shot.
On replay, many fans believed it was a legal shot and given Usyk had over three minutes to recover, Frank Warren confirmed he and Daniel Dubois would be appealing the result.
“Cheated out of victory. It hit him on the waistband,” said Frank Warren… “That’s all he worked on in camp. Working to the body. We see that as a weakness and he got caught, and that referee got it badly wrong. Badly wrong. Didn’t take any points off him. If there’s a low blow, why didn’t you take points off him? And I like Usyk, I like him, but that was a hometown decision. Compete hometown decision. He won that fight because he was not fit to go on and they gave him, I don’t know how long it was, a couple of minutes to recover from a legitimate shot.”
After the news became public that Dubois would be appealing the result, Oleksandr Usyk’s team revealed they don’t think the result will get overturned.
“Zero percent or negative probability to be successful,” Krassyuk told Sky Sports, when asked about the likelihood of a successful appeal.
Should the appeal not happen, Oleksandr Usyk is expected to face Filip Hrgovic as the IBF will make him the mandatory title challenger.
