Oscar De La Hoya Provides Update On Potential Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia Fight

Oscar De La Hoya has provided an update on a potential massive fight between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia as the two have been trash-talking one another.

Recently, both Davis and Garcia took to Twitter just minutes apart and tweeted done deal, which got the boxing world excited. Yet, it didn’t seem like it was true but for De La Hoya, he does believe the fight will happen but the two were just teasing the fans.

“It’s being worked on. That’s it. It’s a big fight. It’s a huge fight. Fights like this take forever,” De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com and other reporters. “Do I feel it’s going to get made? Yes – and I’m excited. But this is a huge fight with a lot of details. Gervonta and Ryan I’m sure are, Gervonta is teasing the fans out there. It reminds me [of the promotion of Floyd] Mayweather vs. [Conor] McGregor. They were teasing everybody, and the anticipation was just huge. This fight is going to be a huge fight.”

If the two sides can agree, a fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis would be massive. It’s also a fight both men have called for and Oscar De La Hoya remains confident the sides will end up getting something done sooner rather than later.

“If Ryan and Tank fight, they should be fighting each other next. That’s what the fans want. That’s what we want as a promoter. I don’t have any news whatsoever. I don’t know how close we are. I don’t know how far apart we are. But do I feel confident this fight is going to be made? Yes,” said De La Hoya. We’re going to keep going back and forth. That’s all that we can do. We obviously want this fight to happen relatively sooner than later. I don’t know when that later or sooner is going to be. But do I feel that it can happen? Absolutely.”
