Promoter Expects Emanuel Navarrete-Denys Berinchyk To Go All 12 Rounds
Alexander Krassyuk is looking forward to Emanuel Navarrete vs. Denys Berinchyk and is expecting it to go the distance.
Navarrete is set to face Berinchyk for the vacant WBO belt at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California on May 18. It’s a massive fight, but the promoter won’t be there as he will be in attendance for Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia which is the same day.
“Yeah it’s great but I will not be able to be there sadly,” Krassyuk explained to BoxingScene. “Unfortunately it is in San Diego on the same day as Usyk’s fight with Fury. It’s Navarrete’s first fight in the division for a world title because they made him a super champion at super featherweight, so he automatically gets a shot at the vacant lightweight title. Berinchyk [though] has really deserved his chance actually. He’s had to be very patient to get this chance. He’s already in the U.S. getting himself prepared. On the 18th of May we will see how good the former Olympic silver medalist is.”
Heading into the fight, Navarette is a sizeable favorite, but the promoter expects it to be a much tougher fight. Krassyuk who promotes Berinchyk expects it to go the distance and he has faith the Ukrainian will get the upset win.
“I think it’s going to be a 12 rounder,” Krassyuk added. “I can see this one going the distance. Navarrete is strong, he is Mexican. He has no reverse gear. It will be a big night for Ukraine.”
Emanuel Navarette is 38-1-1 and coming off a draw against Robson Conceicao back in November after he knocked out Oscar Valdez.
Denys Berinchyk, meanwhile, is 18-0 and coming off a decision win over Anthony Yigit back in December.
Do you think Navarette vs. Berinchyk will go the distance?
