Report: Andy Ruiz Jr. In Discussions Over September Fight Against Dillian Whyte Or Luis Ortiz
Andy Ruiz is targeting a big fight in September.
Ruiz enjoyed a lackluster decision win over Chris Arreola this past May where he had to come back from the canvas to get the victory.
He will look to correct things soon as according to FOX Deportes, the former heavyweight champion is targeting a fight with Dillian Whyte or Luis Ortiz.
Nothing is finalized yet, however, there is already communication between the camps which does provide some hope that either fight could happen.
As far as Ruiz vs. Ortiz is concerned, it’s a fight that was linked last year with the pair even being open to it in recent months.
Here’s what Ortiz had to say back in May:
“Congratulations to Andy Ruiz on overcoming the early (knockdown) to win the fight,” Ortiz said. “But he didn’t really accomplish anything other than getting back in the ring. He chose Arreola for his comeback fight, while in my case nobody chooses me. I’m not even left with an Arreola, and that continues to frustrate me.
“I would love nothing more than to face Andy and prove that I am the best Latino heavyweight in the business.”
