Report: WBC Confirms Tyson Fury To Receive 80/20 Purse Split For Dillian Whyte Fight
It looks like we are back to having Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte on the agenda.
It looked like a fight between the pair for the WBC heavyweight championship would no longer happen after negotiation issues involving Whyte.
It even led Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum to look at alternatives such as former champion Andy Ruiz Jr. and Robert Helenius.
However, as per the Daily Star, the WBC have stepped in and confirmed the purse split for the bout with Fury getting an 80/20 split.
That’s a big blow for Whyte who was reportedly expecting as much as 45 percent of the purse.
However, it’s good news for Fury and boxing fans as we could get a fight much sooner now as both sides have been informed of the WBC’s decision on Thursday.
They will now have until January 11th to strike a deal between each other otherwise the fight will go to purse bids.
Fury is coming off an epic 11th-round knockout win over Deontay Wilder in October to successfully defend his WBC heavyweight title for the first time.
Whyte, meanwhile, earned revenge on Alexander Povetkin with a fourth-round TKO win in March. He won the WBC interim heavyweight title as a result which has led to him facing Fury next.
Hopefully, that will remain the case in the next few weeks.
