Robert Helenius Says He Doesn’t Blame Fans For Giving Up On Him, But Confident He’ll Beat Deontay Wilder
Robert Helenius isn’t going to blame fans if they have given up on him and believes Deontay Wilder will beat him on Saturday.
Helenius enters the fight coming off three-straight wins – with back-to-back over Adam Kownacki. In his career, he has lost some critical fights to Dillian Whyte and Gerald Washington but he has rallied to return as a contender and gets to headline a pay-per-view card on Saturday against Wilder.
“I feel tremendously lucky,” Helenius said during a virtual press conference recently. “I’ve been in this game a long time, like 2010 and 2011 I was knocking out Lamon Brewster, Samuel Peter, Siarhei Liakhovich and other guys like that. After that, I got a severe injury and I was gone for a long time. And now it’s the first time I feel l’m back in the business.”
Entering this fight against Wilder, many are picking ‘The Bronze Bomber’ to get the KO win. For Helenius, he says he isn’t blaming anyone that has given up on him but he has confidence he will get his hand raised.
“I think people forget,” Helenius said. “And I had been doing also bad fights after my comeback, so I don’t blame them, that some fans already gave up their hopes and dreams for me. And I understand that I did not do good for myself after [I came back]. It took like seven, eight years to get back to normal after I had that big operation on my shoulder.”
