Rolly Romero Rips Shakur Stevenson, Says He’s The Most Boring Fighter
Rolly Romero has blasted Shakur Stevenson.
Stevenson has moved up to 140lbs after struggling to make weight and has found success. His next fight could be for the unified titles, but Romero has a hard time seeing that. Instead, he believes Stevenson is the most boring fighter in boxing and he puts fans to sleep which is why he doesn’t get he will get a title shot.
“I used to think that Devin Haney was the most boring fighter in the damn sport but at least Devin Haney tries to knock people out,” said Romero to Fight Guys during a recent interview (h/t BoxingScene). “It’s just Devin Haney has the inferior genetics. His genetics are beyond horrible with his sloppy legs and his weak body frame and all that stuff but Shakur? That guy will put anybody to sleep outside the ring, not inside the ring.”
Although Rolly Romero claims Shakur Stevenson is the most boring fighter, the American did score a one-sided sixth-round stoppage win over Shuichiro Yoshino last time out. However, Romero believes that was a mismatch but thinks Stevenson will never be a pay-per-view star.
“He’s the most boring fighter in the history of boxing. I really feel bad for him, there’s no way they can put him on pay-per-view. He can’t sell a fight,” Romero said.
Rolly Romero (14-1) is coming off a TKO loss to Gervonta Davis back in May of 2022 for the WBA lightweight title. He is now set to take on Ismael Barroso on May 13 for the WBA super lightweight title.
Shakur Stevenson (20-0), meanwhile, scored the stoppage win over Yoshino last time out. Prior to that, he beat Robson Conceicao but he was stripped of his super featherweight titles after he missed weight on weigh-in day.
Do you agree with Rolly Romero that Shakur Stevenson is the most boring fighter in boxing?
