Rolly Romero Wants Tank Davis Rematch, Believes He Won The First Six Rounds
Rolly Romero is hoping he can rematch Tank Davis.
On Saturday night in Brooklyn, New York in the main event of a Showtime boxing pay-per-view, Davis and Romero had their highly-anticipated bout. It was a fight that was years in the making and both men vowed to KO each other.
Early on, Romero had success and he believes he won every round until late into the sixth round when he got caught by a hook and the ref called the fight off. For Romero, he believes he exposed Davis and wants to run it back.
“I won all six rounds,” Romero said. “I won every moment of that fight. I exposed him and we need to run that sh*t back… I want Gervonta Davis again. I exposed his ass, and everybody in this room knows it. I got caught with a good shot. That’s all.”
Rolly Romero did have success in the fight as he says but he was also confident he would get the knockout in the first. For Romero, he says that was more gamesmanship as he knew Davis wouldn’t be aggressive early as he didn’t want to get caught which led him to win the rounds.
“If I could’ve got a first-round knockout, I would’ve done it,” Romero said. “You know? But I know he’s expecting a first-round knockout. So, I wasn’t able to get the first-round knockout, so I was tactical throughout the entire fight.”
With the loss, Romero dropped to 14-1 as a pro and whether or not he will get the next Davis rematch is uncertain. The rematch would be a massive fight but Davis has other challengers waiting in the wings so Romero will need to win a fight or two before he gets the rematch.
