Ryan Garcia Eager To See How Gervonta Davis Reacts To Getting Hit When They Fight
Ryan Garcia is excited he’s getting the chance to finally fight Gervonta Davis.
Garcia and Davis announced they will fight one another in April, 2023 in Las Vegas. But, before they do, they both will take another fight – which is expected to be tune-ups of sorts. Should they both get their hand raised, the fight will be on and Garcia believes he will have the advantage of overcoming adversity.
In his career, Garcia has been dropped and gotten back up to win. Getting dropped and recovering is something Davis has never done, and Garcia plans to see how ‘Tank’ reacts when he gets hit like that.
“A lot of boxers have gotten dropped in the past,” Garcia told Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take. “They get up and they win the fight. So, you know that I have that in me. I’ve proven that. He hasn’t proven once he’s been hit with a hard shot what he will do. So that could be a credit to him, but at this point in time, he hasn’t been hit. Once he gets hit, let’s see how he reacts, because I know I can take it and get right back up and finish the job. I don’t know if he can do it. We’re going to be testing that when the fight happens. He won’t be with that left. Much different scenario. I’ll be ready for everything.”
Before they fight, Gervonta Davis is set to face 130-pound contender Hector Garcia on Jan. 7 in Washington D.C. in a Showtime Pay-Per-View event. Garcia, meanwhile, has said he will have an interim title fight also in January in preparation for the scrap with Davis.
