Ryan Garcia Responds To Eddie Hearn, Says ‘The People Want’ Him To Fight Gervonta Davis
Ryan Garcia is only focused on fighting Gervonta Davis next.
Garcia earned the biggest win of his career when he bounced back from an early knockdown to put away Luke Campbell with a devastating body shot in the seventh round this past weekend.
As a result, the 22-year-old became the WBC interim lightweight champion and is now slated to fight WBC champion Devin Haney. Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn — who promotes Haney — recently stated he was looking forward to making that fight happen while the WBC is also planning on ordering it soon.
However, Garcia only wants Davis as he responded to Hearn in an Instagram comment (via Michael Benson).
“Boo hoo 😢 Poor Eddie not getting his way, the people want Davis Garcia, no such thing as a real champion when coming to belts, it’s about being the people’s the champ, go cry me a river.”
There is certainly more interest in Garcia fighting Davis over Haney and it would definitely be good for boxing as the former recently spoke to the latter during Mike Tyson‘s podcast.
“That’s my first time ever speaking to him,” Garcia said. “It was just us talking trash. Mike was trying to see when we’re gonna fight. It’s good for boxing.”
Whether it will happen next, however, remains to be seen.
Do you want to see Garcia fight Davis? Or should he face Haney first and unify the WBC title?
