Ryan Garcia To Make Comeback Against Emmanuel Tagoe In April
Ryan Garcia is set to make his comeback.
The young boxing star will return to action when he faces Emmanuel Tagoe in a lightweight bout taking place April 9 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The fight will be broadcast on DAZN.
Garcia would later react by thanking Tagoe by accepting the fight.
“I wanna thank Emmanuel tagoe for taking this fight, no one wanted to fight me bc they assumed i wouldn’t fight… I respect you and let’s give everyone a fight 🔥🥊”
It will be Garcia’s first fight since January last year. On that occasion, the 23-year-old bounced back from his first career knockdown to TKO Luke Campbell.
However, the rest of the year was one to forget as he had to pull out of his July fight with Javier Fortuna due to mental health issues.
A November fight with JoJo Diaz was later scrapped after Garcia suffered a wrist injury that required surgery.
“I went through a hard year. … Everything came tumbling down on me mentally,” Garcia said in December. “It was a hard time in my life. It got really dark … to the point I didn’t know if I wanted to live anymore. I had a lot of thoughts about that throughout the whole year.”
However, Garcia is now back on track and ready to kickstart his 2022 in style. He will also be Tagoe’s best opponent.
Tagoe, 33, is a former IBO lightweight champion, but has yet to face any top caliber boxer. His last outing was a majority decision win over Mason Menard back in November 2020.
Regardless, are you excited to see Ryan Garcia back in action?
