Sebastian Fundora Open To Rematching Tim Tszyu, But Eyes Terence Crawford
Sebastian Fundora is open to rematching Tim Tszyu next time out after he pulled off the upset victory on Saturday.
Fundora stepped up on short notice to face Tszyu for the belt, and Fundora edged out a hard-fought split decision in a bloody fight. With the win, Fundora could get a big fight next time out and hints at a potential matchup with Terence Crawford, but is leaving the door open to a rematch with Tszyu.
“Everybody has goals in boxing,” Fundora said. “He’s a legend in the sport and one of the top fighters, so I’d like to get in the ring with him, too. I think it would be a great fight. Before that Terence Crawford fight, he was considered one of the best fighters in the world. Let’s do it.”
Sebastian Fundora was glad to prove his doubters wrong with his performance against Tim Tszyu as he proved a lot of doubters wrong with his win over Tszyu to become the champ.
“Those comments, they never reach my brain,” he said. “Everybody has opinions and everybody can speak their own views and thoughts, but I had a whole year of camp since I lost with [Brian] Mendoza and we’ve been working. We’ve been working on our defense, we’ve been working on sitting back, we’ve been working on using our jab, it came out in the fight tonight and I hope you saw it and I hope you enjoyed it.”
With the win over Tszyu, Fundora is now 21-1-1 as a pro.
