Sebastian Fundora Replaces Keith Thurman Against Tim Tszyu
Sebastian Fundora will now fight Tim Tszyu on pay-per-view on March 30 in Las Vegas.
Tszyu was supposed to defend his title against Keith Thurman, but it was revealed on Monday night that Thurman was not medically cleared due to an eye injury. Shortly after, it was announced that Fundora will now face Tszyu in the main event on March 30.
Fundora was originally set to box Serhii Bohachuk on the same card and according to WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, the fight against Tszyu could now be for the WBO and WBC titles.
Tim Tszyu (24-0) is coming off a decision win over Brian Mendoza back in October to retain his WBO light middleweight title. The Australian has now lost two big fights as his fights against Charlo and Thurman haven’t happened due to injuries to his opponent.
Tszyu holds notable wins over Tony Harrison, Carlos Ocampo, and Jeff Horn among others.
Sebastian Fundora (20-1-1) is coming off a KO loss to Brian Mendoza last April to lose his interim WBC light middleweight title. Fundora holds notable wins over Carlos Ocampo, Sergio Garcia, Jorge Cota, and Daniel Lewis among others.
