Shakur Stevenson Believes Jamaine Ortiz Is A Tough Fight But Confident He Would Win
Shakur Stevenson is still searching for his next fight.
Stevenson has said several fighters have turned him down but believes Jamaine Ortiz will likely be his next opponent. Of course, back in October, Ortiz fought Vasyl Lomachenko in a very close fight with some thinking Ortiz even pulled off the upset.
Although Ortiz fought Lomachenko tough, Stevenson is confident if they end up fighting he will show how good he is. He believes Lomachenko is older and slowing down while he is young and vows to finish Ortiz.
“Jamaine Ortiz is on the list. I know him personally,” Stevenson said to Sky Sports. “He’s not going to say no. He wouldn’t duck nobody. He did real good with Lomachenko. He just was a frontrunner. I’m not taking anything away from him. I already know he’s a tough fight for whoever. He’s a big 135-pounds. He’s a frontrunner, I think the first six rounds he’s going to start off blazing hot. Then the next six he dies down. The world would like to see it just based off what he did with Lomachenko. But Lomachenko is a older guy, he’s slowly going down. I’m like a young killer. It’s not going to be the same type of thing if we do fight.”
Shakur Stevenson (19-0) is coming off a decision win over Robson Conceicao but missed weight for the scrap and vacated the title and will move up in weight. He also holds notable wins over Oscar Valdez and Jamel Herring among others.
Jamaine Ortiz (16-1-1) is coming off the loss to Lomachenko but before that, he had notable wins over Jamel Herring, Nahir Albright, and Joseph Adorno among others.
