Claressa Shields vs. Marie-Eve Dicaire Boxing Bout Set For March 5

Claressa Shields will be having another boxing bout before making her mixed martial arts debut in the PFL later this year, as she has an agreement against undefeated IBF light-middleweight champion Marie-Eve Dicaire.

This will be a 154 lb unification bout with Dicaire’s IBF title on the line, as well as Shields’ WBC and WBO titles. They’ve also added a couple vacant titles to the bout, the WBA (Super) and Ring Magazine titles, thus the reason it’s a unification bout.

It will be presented by Salita Promotions in association with Groupe Yvon Michel. The pay-per-view is suggested to cost $29.95 and will be hosted on InDemand to all major cable, satellite, and telco outlets. It’ll also be live-streamed by FITE TV at fite.tv.

The bout will go down from the Dort Financial Center in Shields’ backyard of Flint, Michigan, Friday, March 5.

The two will battle it out for a total of five belts, the WBA (Super) of which will be the first ever crowned to a female fighter, a very historic moment we have coming up.

After a rocky 2020, where Shields fought just once, and Dicaire didn’t fight at all, it’s good to see these two being matched up together in the first quarter of 2020.

Shields’ last bout took place in January of 2020, and the last before that in April of 2019. Dicaire’s last three bouts all took place in 2019, fighting in April, June, and November.

Dicaire comes into this fight with a record of 17-0, being a four-time world champion, while Shields comes in with a record of 10-0, being a seven-time world champion in two weight divisions.

Luckily for Shields, the PFL has agreed to give her non-tournament lightweight match ups, and is allowing her to still compete in boxing, where she’s certainly the best in the world.
