Snoop Dogg Launches Boxing Promotion Alongside Triller
Snoop Dogg will be taking up a more prominent role in the world of boxing.
The world-renowned rapper was recently commentating at the successful Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. event promoted by Triller this past weekend.
Now he’s partnering up with Triller for the launch of a new boxing league called “The Fight Club” which will feature multiple events per year.
Like the Tyson-Jones event, the new promotion will have a similar layout by mixing boxing matches and musical acts. Additionally, it will be “connecting celebrities from various backgrounds, from breakout social media stars and professional athletes renowned for their athletic abilities to celebrated musicians and well-known actors and other stars willing to tackle a new venture and enter the world of boxing, as well as pro boxers making their way up.”
Snoop Dogg — who also performed at the Tyson-Jones event along with other rappers — will help with fighter and musical artist selection, overall production as well as take up hosting and announcing duties.
“Up until this weekend, boxing was about the experience of one small group of elite individuals who attended the fight in person,” said Ryan Kavanaugh, the co-founder of The Fight Club, in a release. “What we wanted to create with the Tyson vs. Jones event was an experience for all of the viewers at home, combining the highest-end production and lighting and a production quality never before brought to a fight.
“Today marks a paradigm shift as Triller and Proxima’s ‘The Fight Club’ dedicates itself to delivering top-notch immersive experiences in the comfort of your home.”
Considering the Tyson-Jones event — which featured popular YouTuber Jake Paul in the co-main event — reportedly did over 1 million buys, there is certainly a market for such a venture to be successful.
