Teofimo Lopez & George Kambosos Clash At Press Conference
Things got heated between Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos JR at their recent kickoff press conference.
IBF/WBA/WBC Franchise/WBO lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez seemed to take offence at comments made by George Kambosos during the presser. The two men went back and forth extensively, culminating with both men squaring off with each other, forcing the Triller mediator to intervene. An extract on their dispute went as follows (transcribed via Boxing News 24):
Kambosos: “You think it’s just my right hand; that’s your downfall.”
Teofimo: “I could break you down right now. You’re lucky. I could fight tomorrow.”
Kambosos: “Let’s do it right now.”
Teofimo: “You’re lucky we’re not fighting today because I would put you on a f**** stretcher.”
Kambosos: “You wouldn’t even make weight, boy. Get it off.”
Teofimo: “I’m going to tell you something, my man. I’m going to make a f**** example of you. I’m going to put everybody on their a**, and you know what? I’m going to put my foot on your neck.”
Lopez can be seen pulling his shirt off and stepping up to Kambosos before security separate the two fighters.
Kambosos has also previously taken shots at Teofimo by stating he believes the champ has a ‘suspect chin.’
Lopez and Kambosos are set to face off on June 5th. The Triller Fight Club PPV event will also feature the return of boxing all-time great, in the form of Evander Holyfield. He takes on Kevin McBride in a 6 round exhibition fight.
