Teofimo Lopez Sends A Message To The 140lbs Division: “I’m Here To Be Their Nightmare”

Teofimo Lopez has sent a message to the 140lbs division following his seventh-round stoppage over Pedro Campa.

The fight marked Lopez’s first since he lost to George Kambosos Jr. last November, and at super lightweight, Lopez planned to make a statement. The win for Lopez was a big one as he says it was a big relief to return and get a win in this fashion.

“I am grateful for this. I have returned,” Lopez said after the fight. “I got to work a little bit more on some things, but overall it was good. It’s been a while. There was a lot on my mind. I nearly almost died [in] the last fight, so that was weighing on my mind. I had to clear it out. Going in there, I’m not afraid to die, but the last thing I want to do is not have my son have a father.”

After the win, Teofimo Lopez was asked about who he wanted to fight next, and for him, he says he doesn’t care. Instead, he mentioned multiple names as for Lopez, he wants to get thrown right into the deep end and test himself against the best at 140lbs.

“If Josh Taylor is too busy with his wedding, and there’s nobody else around because the WBA belt is taken and the WBC is gonna be fought between [top contender Jose] Zepeda and [former WBA champ Regis] Prograis, then so fuckin’ be it,” Lopez said. “I’ll take all those boys and take all their dreams away. I’m here to be their nightmare.”

With the win, Lopez improved to 17-1 as a pro. Before the setback to Kambosos Jr., he beat Vasyl Lomachenko to become the new WBA, WBO, and The Ring lightweight champion as well as retaining his IBF belt. He also holds notable wins over Richard Commey, and Diego Magdaleno.

“I’m ready to eat all these boys,” claimed Lopez. “They all man-made. Teofimo is self-made. They can never make another one.”
