Terence Crawford Believes Canelo Alvarez At 168lbs Makes The Most Sense
Terence Crawford is hopeful he can secure a fight with Canelo Alvarez next time out.
Crawford won’t have to rematch Errol Spence Jr. and he is now turning his attention to Alvarez, as he wants a legacy fight.
“Being where I’m at right now, I’m looking at the fight that makes the most sense. and that’s not ‘Boots,’” Crawford said on The MMA Hour. “Canelo’s going to bring way more to my legacy, way more to my bank account, because at the end of the day when boxing is done with, what will we have? I want to have a legacy that’s something that people talk about for the ages, and not only that, I want to have a bank account that lasts as well… One hundred sixty-eight [pounds]. If that’s the fight in front of me, then yes
Crawford has been linked to Jaron Ennis, but he believes the Alvarez fight makes a lot more sense. Terence Crawford wants to prove he is the best boxer and believes it is a fight that many fans would want to see.
“I think it would be everybody’s choice. Canelo would have to agree, I would have to agree, Turki would have to agree because he’s the one that’s dishing out the money, so a lot of moving parts got to be involved in that fight,” Crawford said.
Whether or not Crawford will get a fight against Alvarez is uncertain, but first, the Mexican Edgar Berlanga on September 14.
Terence Crawford is 40-0 and coming off a lopsided stoppage win over Errol Spence Jr. and before that, beat David Avanesyan.
