Terence Crawford Expects To ‘F*ck Up’ Errol Spence When They Fight
Welterweight champion Terence Crawford say’s he’s going to “f*ck up” fellow titleholder Errol Spence when they finally fight.
Crawford is widely regarded as one of the best fighters in the sport. The three-weight world champion has a perfect record with 36 wins in 36 fights. ‘Bud’ has beaten the likes of Amir Khan, Jeff Horn, Julius Indongo, Viktor Postol, and Ray Beltran during his rise to the top.
At the top, he has found Spence who is also unbeaten at 26-0. The American holds signature wins over Shawn Porter, Mickey Garcia, Kell Brook, and Lamont Peterson.
The pair seem destined to meet and Crawford fully expects to do serious damage to Spence when they finally do fight. Speaking on the latest episode of Chris Mannix’s Sports Illustrated boxing podcast Crawford says this is something he tells Spence every time he gets the chance.
“I wouldn’t say we talk [regularly], but I hit him up a couple of times and, you know, we got on FaceTime and spoke briefly,” Crawford said. “It was just, you know, us talking about making the fight. That was pretty much it. I told him I was gonna f*ck him up.”
“It’s real,” Crawford said. “I truly feel like when we fight, I’m gonna f*ck him up. You know, and he feel the same way. So, that’s why it makes for a great fight. You’ve got the two top welterweights in the division telling the media that they gonna f*ck each one up, you know. So, let’s see who’s telling the truth at the end of the day.”
The pair last bumped into each other during Tyson Fury’s rematch with Deontay Wilder in February. Crawford simply couldn’t resist letting his rival know what’s up, he explained.
“My seat was right behind, catty-corner, right behind him and his [seat] was in front of me,” Crawford said. “And I had tapped him. You know what I mean? He turned around, like, ‘See.’ Like I just let him know like, ‘This gonna be us, you know what I mean?’ And he was just like, ‘Man, I’m gonna wash you.’ I was like, ‘Yeah? You’ve gotta get in the ring to do that first.’ You know what I mean? So, you know, it was just little jokes between us two.” (Transcribed by Boxing Scene)
