Terence Crawford Not Looking To Finish Errol Spence Jr. But Admits A KO Would Be ‘Icing On The Cake’
Terence Crawford isn’t chasing a knockout victory over Errol Spence Jr. in July.
Crawford and Spence Jr. are finally set to box one another on July 29 in a massive fight for the sport. The winner will likely become the pound-for-pound best boxer in the sport and heading into the fight, Crawford is a slight betting favorite.
Entering the scrap, Terence Crawford expects to win by decision, but he says if the KO wins it would only add to the excitement of the fight.
“Like I always say, I never go in there looking for the knockout. But if it comes, it comes, that’s icing on the cake,” Crawford said in an interview with BoxingScene.com and other reporters ahead of his undisputed welterweight title fight.
Although the fight will be massive, Terence Crawford says he isn’t letting that get to him. Instead, he is viewing it as just another fight but knows a win makes him the undisputed champ of the world which has been his goal since he started boxing.
“My only plan is to become the undisputed welterweight champion of the world. That’s the only thing I am thinking about right now,” said Crawford. “All of the fighters that I have fought have prepared me for this moment.”
Terence Crawford enters his July 29 fight against Errol Spence Jr. coming off a KO win over David Avanesyan to improve to 39-0. In his career, he also holds notable wins over Shawn Porter, Kell Brook, Amir Khan, and Jeff Horn among others.
