Terence Crawford Says A Dominant Win Over Shawn Porter Will Cement Him As Pound-For-Pound Number One
Terence Crawford believes he can cement himself as the best pound-for-pound boxer with a dominant win over Shawn Porter.
The undefeated WBO welterweight champion in Crawford will defend his belt against Porter on November 20. It’s an intriguing matchup and Crawford says it’s time to put up or shut up.
“It’s put up or shut up. In my eyes, I can stand up and pull my shirt out and I can really show this 8-pack I got because you know I stay working. I stay working,” said Crawford (via Boxingscene). “That is nothing new to me, and it isn’t anything new to you. You know what you are up against on November 20. I know what I’m against on November 20.”
Terence Crawford does expect to be able to walk through Shawn Porter and remain undefeated. He knows how good he is so he expects a dominating win over Porter will put him as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the sport.
“A dominating win against Porter will boost my status as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world,” said Crawford. “Unlike other fighters that [Porter] fought, I’m different. I believe you know that I’m different. The more you push, the more I will push. You hit me hard, and l will hit you even harder if you can last. That’s what makes this fight a great fight.”
Terence Crawford is 37-0 and beat Kell Brook by TKO in the fourth round last November. He holds notable wins over Amir Khan, Jose Benavidez Jr., Jeff Horn, and Felix Diaz among others. If he can defeat Porter, it would help cement his legacy but many still hope he faces Errol Spence Jr. sometime in the near future to really prove himself as the pound-for-pound best.
