Tim Bradley Believes Jamaine Ortiz Beat Teofimo Lopez
Tim Bradley thinks Jamaine Ortiz should have gotten his hand raised on Thursday night against Teofimo Lopez.
Lopez was defending his WBO and The Ring light welterweight title against Ortiz in a fight many expected Lopez to cruise to a win. However, the fight was very competitive and back-and-forth. When the final bell rang, many thought Ortiz should have gotten his hand raised, and Bradley agreed with them.
“That’s what I thought. I thought Jermaine won the fight, too,” said boxing expert Tim Bradley to the media (h/t BoxingNews24). “I understand you can’t win a championship backing up. It’s a strategy, bro. Come on, it’s a strategy, and that’s what you got to do in boxing. Some fights are won that way.”
According to Tim Bradley, he thinks Teofimo Lopez didn’t fight to his best or have the best strategy while Bradley thinks Ortiz did have a good strategy.
“You’ve got to use a strategy based on your strengths to take away your opponent’s weaknesses, and that’s what Jamaine Ortiz truly did. He took away his weaknesses. He didn’t let him set his feet. He went southpaw from the opening bell. I swear this dude must have been in my camp. He must have been in my house or my head because that’s exactly what I was thinking,” Bradley said.
“Fight from the southpaw stance. Do exactly what Sandor Martin did. Fight of his backfoot. Invite Teo because we know he don’t fight that well on his front foot, although they say they’ve been working on it, and then counter him. That’s exactly what he did, and he did it all night,” Bradley continued.
With the loss, Jamaine Ortiz dropped to 17-2-1 as a pro.
