Tim Tszyu Eyes Fight With Terence Crawford
Tim Tszyu is hoping to get the chance to box Terence Crawford.
Tszyu has been trying to secure a big fight for quite some time and it did appear he was close to boxing Jermell Charlo but injuries to Charlo derailed that. Now, after the WBO is set to strip Charlo and elevate Tszyu, and the Aussie is now hoping Crawford moves up in weight to fight him.
“Ask him. Go ask him if he’s ready … that’s the real question,” Tszyu said to Fox Sports Australia. “To be mentioned as the next fight for the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, that shows the level I’m at right now.”
Although Tim Tszyu wants to fight Terence Crawford, it isn’t because he thinks he sucks. Rather, Tszyu was so impressed with Crawford’s performance against Errol Spence Jr., he wants the chance to fight him.
“Master class,” Tszyu said. “It was like watching a magician — that’s what it felt like. And Errol Spence, he was all out of control. His balance was shot. The bloke was just, I dunno … he didn’t look right even before the fight. And immediately Crawford was in control. Countered everything, fought beautifully. Simple boxing.”
As well, Tim Tszyu isn’t opposed to fighting Errol Spence Jr. either if he does move up to 154lbs as he talked about.
“So I’d still love to fight Errol Spence,” Tszyu said. “Love to fight Spence. But they won’t do it. It’s too much of a high-risk fight for him. High risk, low reward. What does he get out of it?”
Regardless, Tszyu is looking for a big fight next time out.
